Outing with kids from Hopeful Home
The Crystal Mountain family including Crystal Mountain Treks founder, Dinesh Gurung, and Team Leader, Jwalant Gurung, organized an outing for 40 children from Hopeful Home. Senior guides - Manju Rai, Ram Rai, Buddhi Rai, Lila Subba, Kalu Tamang - Assistant guide - Devraj Rai - and kitchen helper - Phul Sing Tamang - helped make the picnic possible. Kids in Kathmandu rarely get to enjoy the beautiful surrounds of our valley and we thought the northern-eastern end of the valley (behind Kopan monastery) would be a perfect location for a day in the nature for the kids (ages 5 to 17). See below photos from the picnic.

Crystal Mountain has for several years been involved with children related causes in Nepal. In the past, we have helped provide funds through donations for Mitrata and Children's Contact Center. This picnic was sponsored by Crystal Mountain and organized for a small sum of US$200 (which is still a lot for a country like Nepal). We will continue to organize such trips for kids from different "homes" in the Kathmandu valley. If you have such a home in mind and want to organize a trip for the kids Crystal Mountain will match costs and make all necessary arrangements. (only during the low trekking season)
