Dragon Tour (12 days, 11 nights)

On this trip, you will get to experience more of the Bhutanese country side as you travel to Bumthang in eastern Bhutan besides visiting the three major towns in Bhutan: Thimpu - the capital, Paro and Punakha. Paro is a very laid back town with clean streets. Thimpu, on the other hand, is more colorful and vibrant especially on the weekends where people from the villages come to sell vegetables and other wares at the weekend bazaar. Punakha is the site of the Punakha Dzong (Fort), undoubtedly one of the most impressive dzong in Bhutan. The art within the dzong and the serene setting makes this monument a must see in Bhutan.

This is a private trip which means a guide, a driver and a vehicle will accompany you and your friends to all the places and sites listed below. This is a tour trip and does not involve any trekking - it does include a couple of day hikes which are optional. However more hiking options can be included in the itinerary on request without any additional charge.

 

Itinerary

Day 01 - Paro

Fly to Paro from either Bangkok or Kathmandu. Visit the ruins of Drukgyal Dzong. In the evening, you are free to stroll around Paro town. Overnight Hotel. (D)

Day 02 - Thimpu

In the morning, visit the National Museum which houses a collection of art, paintings and statues. Then visit Kyichu Lakhang, the oldest monastery in Bhutan. After lunch, drive to Thimpu. Free to stroll around Thimpu town. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 03 - Thimpu

Today, you will visit Tashicho dzong, the school of arts and crafts, the textile museum and a nunnery temple. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 04 - Punakha


Punakha Dzong

Drive to Punakha. At Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong. The art work in this Dzong is very impressive. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 05 - Tshokha

Drive to Tsohkha. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

 
Day 06 - Bumthang

In the morning visit Trongsa Dzong, the ancestral home of Bhutan's royal family. Drive to Bumthang. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

 

Day 07 - Bumthang

Visit Jambey Lakhang. Continue exploring Bumthang. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 08 - Bumthang


Nimalung festival in Bumthang

Day excursion to Ura valley. Drive to Ura and explore the village. Return to Bumthang. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 09 - Punakha

Drive to Punakha. At Punakha, visit the Punakha Dzong. The art work in this Dzong is very impressive. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 10 - Wangdue

Drive to Wangdue. Overnight Hotel. (All meals)

Day 11 - Paro

Drive back to Paro. Evening free. Overnight Hotel. (All meals0

Day 12 - Final departure

Transfer to airport for final departure. (B)

You must also send us a non-refundable deposit of $500 per person. In addition, you must also send us the full airfare for flight into and out of Bhutan on Druk air as this must be purchased well in advance as air tickets are very hard to get. The deposit must be wired to us. Details will be provided. We will refund up to $30 to cover your wire expenses. Wire details will be provided.

Balance must be paid a month prior to arrival.

Cancellation Policy:

If you cancel at anytime prior to the beginning of the trip, you forfeit your deposit and Druk Air airfare. No refunds will be made for unused services on the trip.
