Gorkha Family Trek

Gorkha Family Trek (11 days, 10 nights)
We used this route to begin a majority of our Manaslu Treks and because a lot of our past clients raved about this section of the trek we thought it would be a good idea to offer it to others as well.
The trek begins in Gorkha, a town west of Kathmandu, the ancestral home of the Shah kings. We trek through Brahmin villages in the low hills and ascend slowly through thick forests (mostly rhododendron and bamboos) to several Gurung villages. One night's camp is in the forests among bamboo thickets. A majority of our staff for our Gorkha treks comprise of Gurung's from the area and all very familiar with the region.
The trek is rated mildly strenuous and is moderately paced. No technical climbing is involved and you do not have to be an experienced hiker to participate. This trek is open for children 12 years or older.
Itinerary

Arrive Kathmandu. Transfer to Hotel. Rest of day free. Welcome dinner at a Nepali Home. (Dinner)
Day 02 - Kathmandu
Visit Pashupatinath, Nepal's most sacred Hindu temple dedicated to Shiva, with its two-tiered golden roof and silver door. Here, you'll probably witness a Hindu cremation along the banks of the Bagmati River.
Then drive to Bhaktapur, the City of Devotees, for lunch and a tour of the royal palace square. Bhaktapur is a medieval city in the Kathmandu valley and is least disturbed by modern life. Here, you can absorb the architectural splendor of the five-storied Nyatapola temple, or the sculptural delight of the Peacock Window. (Breakfast and Lunch)
