Annapurna Mountain Biking
Country: Nepal | Destination: Annapurna | Activity: Mountain Biking | Grade: 4 - Strenuous

This trip includes biking both in the Kathmandu valley which lies in the mid-hills of Nepal; and in the mountains of the Kali Gandaki region in mid-western Nepal.

The trip starts in Kathmandu, the historical capital of Nepal. A full day of sightseeing is scheduled to give you an opportunity to explore the ancient palaces, temples, monasteries and stupas of Kathmandu. Then hop on your bikes to explore the best jeep and single-tracks Kathmandu has to offer. On the South side, we will ride through ancient Newari villages and paddy fields to give us an idea of how Kathmandu was before the onset of haphazard development. On the North side, the next day, we will shuttle to Kakani (roughly 7,000 ft.) and ride back to Kathmandu through the Shivapuri National Park.

We continue on our adventure and fly to Pokhara and onward to Jomsom. We spend the first two nights at Kagbeni (9,100ft.), the gateway to Upper Mustang, riding, exploring and acclimatizing. From Muktinath, we then descend a technical track through Lubra valley into Marpha. From Marpha, we will descend along the Kali Gandaki river alternating between jeep track and single track. Another highlight is the stop at Tatopani where we will be able to soak in a natural hot-spring.

Your biking trip ends in Beni from where a chartered vehicle will take us to lake-side in Pokhara. You fly back to Kathmandu in the afternoon the next day. The trip officially ends with a transfer to the airport the following day.

Here, you can absorb the architectural splendor of the five-storied Nyatapola temple, or the sculptural delight of the Peacock Window.
